“The Good Dinosaur” Review

by Melody Azimi, staff writer

Breaking tradition, Pixar released “The Good Dinosaur the second movie in a year, something they have never done before. The milestone movie has a touching story as well as some gorgeous animation.

The movie is set in a world where the asteroid that was supposed to extinct the dinosaurs safely passed earth instead, leaving the dinosaurs alive and happy. Arlo, the youngest dinosaur in his family, has trouble adjusting to living conditions. His family owns a huge farm, so everyone in the family must contribute and help. But because he is so timid and shy, Arlo’s everyday tasks are hard for him to do. His family is disappointed that he isn’t living up to his full “dinosaur potential.” One day, Arlo gets washed away from home because of a huge rainstorm. Scared and hundreds of miles away from home, Arlo meets a friendly boy named Spot who offers Arlo both friendship and help. The two of them then take on a great journey together to reunite Arlo with his family. While traveling through harsh and mysterious landscapes, Arlo learns the power of confronting fears and finally discovers what he is truly capable of.

The overall story was cute and showed that the best of friends come in the most unexpected forms. The visuals and animations of the whole movie were beyond spectacular. It was so full of detail and color. Though this movie wasn’t the best Pixar movie out there, it was definitely a charming story. It was fun to watch, but it was more of a young child’s movie rather than other pixar movies which could connect with any age range. This movie will appeal to anyone who loves playful, and cute Pixar movies, “The Good Dinosaur” is a must see.
