Buying the perfect gift

by Jessie Lee, staff writer

The holidays are just around the corner which means that it is nearing the time of shopping for gifts. There are so many options for gifts to give someone, such as intricate gift sets organized by stores, or even handmade ones. So here are some ideas for gifts to give important people in your life.

For parents, it’s most important to let them know that you appreciate them, so a letter or a note is highly recommended. The present can be simple, and it should reflect their interests. It could be something they had mentioned wanting or had been needing to buy. While it may sound cheesy, parents do want presents that are meaningful rather than expensive so make sure that your present represents something special you share between them.

For friends, gifts can vary depending on how long you have been friends with them. A gift can go beyond just buying items if you have been friends with someone for so long, because        of all the memories you have made with that person. A poster with heartfelt messages on it can go a long way to show someone how much you care and appreciate them.

“Think about what their interests are because most people don’t know what they want,” said Casie Grogan, senior.

For those that you may not be extremely close with, there are many gift ideas that everyone would love no matter their interests. Presents such as gift cards and cute Christmas cards are great for these people since it’s useful to anyone. For people that you don’t know very well, it’s important to provide generic presents to make sure that the person would like the present.
