Hockey Update

Justin Dilling

The 2017 hockey playoffs are in full swing. Last year, the San Jose Sharks made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. This year, our homes team unfortunately lost in the first round to the Edmonton Oilers in six games. However, there’s still much to root and watch for.
In the second round, the Edmonton Oilers are playing the Anaheim Ducks, and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the defending champions of the Stanley Cup, are playing the Washington Capitals. The Ottawa Senators are in the playoffs after not making it last year and they are facing the New York Rangers, who are looking to bounce back after a first round loss in 2016.

The Washington Capitals previously had an 8-1 chance of winning the title and now they have 3-1 odds, making them the team to watch. The next favorite is the Pittsburgh Penguins; last year’s Stanley Cup champions. They currently have 4-1 odds of winning the whole thing. With Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins have some talented players capable of carrying the team all the way. However, the Washington Capitals have Alexander Ovechkin, one of the best players in the league.

If you want to check out this thrilling Stanley Cup race, then the games will be televised on NBC, NBCSN, USA, and NHL Network.
