September 2018 Movies, Concerts, and Exhibitions

Hello Leigh High School and welcome to your monthly Arts report. This section includes everything you need to satiate your needs for music, movies and art for September!

First off we have movies. We’ve had an exciting year so far in this department with movies like “Avengers: Infinity War” and “A Quiet Place” garnering lots of attention. However, the blockbuster summer season is starting to slow down and the Oscar season is kicking it in with the following movies.

The Predator

“The Predator” (2018) is the next in the award winning horror franchise that takes a formidable alien opponent to suburbia. More dangerous and stronger than before, The Predator threatens to make the human race go extinct in this new thriller. “The Predator” stars Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and Boyd Holbrook. “The Predator” (2018) comes out September 14 and is rated R.

The Nun

“The Nun” is a spin off title to “The Conjuring 2” and will most definitely excite horror fans as the terrifying Nun takes center stage. Taking place after the death of a Nun, a priest is tasked with investigating her death; what he finds may unravel the order he swore his life to. “The Nun” stars Taissa Farmiga, Bonnie Aarons, Demián Bichir and Charlotte Hope. “The Nun” comes out September 7 and is rated R.

“Peppermint” shows what a mother will do when she loses everything she loves. She decides to become a local vigilante and hunt those who hurt her and her family. The movie is sure to excite with already visceral looking action sequences and a strong performance by Jennifer Garner. “Peppermint” is rated R and is coming out September 7.

“Smallfoot” is an animated adaptation of the original novel titled Yeti Tracks by Sergio Pablos. It follows a young Yeti on his quest to discover human beings, in an attempt to prove they exist to his superior overlords. This fun, adventurous and hilarious movie is enjoyable for all ages, and would make for a fun Saturday outing. “Smallfoot” comes out September 28 and is rated PG.

White Boy Rick

“White Boy Rick” is a biopic set in the 1980s and follows Ricky Wershe Jr., the youngest drug kingpin, FBI informant, and hustler, among other titles. “White Boy Rick” already looks fantastic with a stunning first trailer and a cast of stars involved with the project. The cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Richie Meritt, YG, Bel Powley and Taylour Paige. “White Boy Rick” has not been rated yet and is coming out September 14.
