Jeff Bezos is an American technology entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He is the founder, chairman, CEO, and president of Amazon.
Jeff and MacKenzie, Jeff’s wife, released a joint statement on his Twitter account on January 9, 2019, to announce their plans to divorce: “We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends. We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again. We’ve had such a great life together as a married couple, and we also see wonderful futures ahead, as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures. Though the labels might be different, we remain a family, and we remain cherished friends.”
Reports just hours after the divorce claim that the businessman had been seeing his friend Patrick Whitesell’s wife, Sánchez, for eight months. According to the magazine, Jeff and the former Extra host were spotted together across five states at various hotels, restaurants, and private estates. The report said MacKenzie and talent agent Whitesell were made aware of their spouses’ affair in the fall.
Multiple outlets reported that Jeff and MacKenzie did not have a prenuptial agreement, meaning she may be entitled to half of his estimated $144 billion net worth. The estranged couple live in Washington, which is a community property state where all assets and debts accrued during a marriage are considered equally owned by both spouses unless there is a prenup in place. They also have properties in Beverly Hills, New York, and Washington, D.C.
