The Leigh baseball team has had to cope with having a new coaching staff since head coach Kraig Constantino and his staff were released from coaching, but the new head coach Eric Pini gave the longhorns hope with his many years of experience with Saint Francis. He has won 3/3 CCS titles and is hoping to get his fourth with Leigh. His high intensity way of coaching is helping the longhorns in this CCS Championship run. The longhorns were 1-4 in preseason, first playing against the last year’s CCS champions Los Altos losing a tight game 2-1. Then they played against a very good team from Wilcox losing 5-1. After the two losses, Leigh came back to beat Palo Alto 6-2 in the Washington Park tournament. The next game, they played a top 10 team in California losing 9-0. For the last game of pre-season, they played a tough Archbishop Mitty team unfortunately losing 8-2. After the pre-season, they did not expect they came out full force against Monterey winning 12-6. The team has big aspirations for the rest of the season hoping to win league and get to host CCS.
