Isaiah Rashad performed at the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz on March 9, on his first solo tour as an artist.Isaiah Rashad has toured with SchoolBoy Q and has performed with Kendrick Lamar. The openers were Matt Genius and Mike I.D.K.
Isaiah performed his most of the songs from his first studio album, The Sun’s Tirade, and a few tracks from his mixtape Cilvia’s Demo.
The tour began in January with 22 stops; however, due to sold out shows, 24 additional cities were added to Rashad’s tour. The Catalyst was one of the locations that was given a second show. The most popular songs from The Sun’s Tirade were “Free Lunch” and “4r Da Squaw”.
The Catalyst Club is in Santa Cruz and is used for shows for up-and-coming artists. The lights surrounding the stage are colored which makes the show more interesting. The show was sold out and before the doors opened, the line to get in went around the block. Most of the people attending were high school and college students. Since the show was sold out, it was very crowded by the main stage. During the opener’s performances, there was a lot of pushing and crowding, but while Isaiah Rashad was on stage the audience was a lot calmer.
It was my first time seeing Isaiah Rashad live and I would definitely see him again. It was a more relaxed concert compared to other rappers. Isaiah Rashad performed extra songs and interacted with the crowd a lot which added to the experience.
